Counselors will accommodate student requests of a course change before the 4th week of Quarter 1 and Quarter 3 if:
- Repeating a course - If a student is placed in a course which was passed with a "C" or higher. In most cases, this is a student who completed an approved summer school or extended day course where a grade of "C" or higher was achieved or records were recently loaded that reflected a passing grade of "C" or higher
- There is a "hole" or missing course in the student's daily schedule.
Once the fourth week of the Quarter begins and the student desires a class change then administration must be notified. Please note, counselors do not change classes based on teacher preference for any reason.
Step 1: Student must meet with teacher to discuss concerns.
Step 2: Parent must conference with teacher to follow up on plan of action.
Step 3: Teacher, parent, and student agree that student has made every attempt to succeed in class AND concerns persist.
Step 4: Student and parent must meet with an administrator to seek approval for further course of action.
